What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a scientifically verified and effective technique that can promote accelerated human change. With Hypnosis, we can create desired changes in behavior and encourage mental and physical well-being. These programs are especially suited for health care professionals, practicing therapists, and all individuals seeking to make a positive change in their lives.
How does hypnosis feel?
Since hypnosis is a natural state of mind, clients are often surprised that they hear every word. Unless one enters a deeper state, or at least a medium state, he or she may not "feel" any different than when relaxing in the favorite easy chair with a good book. One may feel quite mellow, and may feel light (or weightless), or very heavy as if sinking into the chair.
In a light state, it is entirely possible for a client to believe that he or she was not hypnotized. There are certain abilities which are enhanced during the actual hypnotic process itself: (a) the ability to IMAGINE, (b) the ability to REMEMBER, (c) the CREATIVE abilities, and (d) RESPONSIVENESS TO SUGGESTIONS. Naturally, it is this last ability which creates the appeal of hypnosis to some and the fear of hypnosis to others.
What You Can Expect to Happen in a Hypnosis Session
In the first session, you complete a form or two that helps the hypnotist to understand why you have come for hypnosis. Then you and the hypnotist discuss the issues that brought you, and what you hope to achieve. Any misconceptions or concerns that you may have about hypnosis and the process are are examined and discussed.Once that is completed, the first hypnosis session begins. You sit comfortably in a chair. Once you are ready to go into hypnosis, the process begins, and may take a variety of forms. Most people enter a hypnotic trance in response to the spoken suggestions of the hypnotist. Depending on the purpose of the visit, different techniques are used to reach the source of the issues involved.
Once the issues are clearly understood, suggestions for change and resolution are given while in hypnosis. When the session is over, you are brought out of hypnosis for a discussion of your experiences while in hypnosis and the progress you have made. All clients are taught self-hypnosis to continue their personal growth. The first session can last up to 1 1/2 hours, and subsequent sessions usually last about 50 minutes. Normally, a course of treatment in hypnosis involves several sessions.
How can Hypnosis Help You?
Hypnosis is not a magic wand. It cannot "make" you do anything. However, it is a facilitator, a method through which you can tap the
resources of your subconscious mind, and make the changes that you
want to make. Many issues can be resolved or helped through the use
of hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
